9 Stelios Rigopoulos 12.11.10 16:12 As a descendant of the Rum Millet under the Ottoman Sultans, our family has a historical association with the Greek Patriarchate in Fener, which for centuries enjoyed the protection of the Sublime Porte and many privileges of internal administration which it did not enjoy under the Byzantine Emperors. Certainly, under the Tanzimat reforms of 1839 and 1856, the Rum Millet was given total self-government, although each Patriarch and Metropolitan, after his religious election was received by the Padishah and the Grand Vezir to be installed as an Official of the Ottoman Devlet so as to administer justice over the Greek Orthodox Nation in the name of the Sultan.

6 Okan Dogan 27.02.10 18:49 Selam aleykum, ich bin überrascht auf eine solche Seite und einen solchen Verein gestoßen zu sein. Denn mir scheint es als wäre das osmanische Reich, das Kalifat und natürlich die Familie Osman sehr stark ins vergessen geraten... Wobei wir heute mehr als sonst ein Reich, wie das osmanische Reich bräuchten. Ein Reich, das für Einheit steht. Ich bin Türke und trauere ständig in den Gedanken um das Osmanische Reich. Das Ende des Osmanischen Reiches und der Anfang der Republik haben uns alles genommen... Insa'Allah werden wir nochmal solch rumreiche Zeiten erleben :)
